Nominating:

Is there a fee to nominate a Notable executive?  There is no fee to nominate unless otherwise noted in the criteria for that special selection.

4 tips for completing the nomination form:

  1. Focus on the nominee’s accomplishments, not their organization’s accomplishments.
  2. Include specific details (facts, figures, numbers, percentages, company names if possible) when describing the nominee’s accomplishments.
  3. Focus on the nominee’s current civic and philanthropic involvement, not so much on past accomplishments.
  4. The nomination must speak for itself; reporters will not contact nominees for further information.

Does the nominee need to be based in the city they’re nominating

  • Full time/hybrid nominees: Nominee works full-time or hybrid from an office in the location criteria listed below to qualify.
  • Fully remote nomineesIf the nominee works for a company/team that is not based in the location criteria listed below, the nominee must live in the location criteria listed below to qualify. If the nominee is fully remote and works with a team in the location criteria listed below but does not live in the area listed, they do not qualify.

Do I meet the criteria? Based on the volume of these types of requests and the nuances of every unique individual, we ask that you refer to the nomination criteria when determining whether you think an honoree would be a good fit. The criteria are used as closely as possible as a baseline for an honoree to make the list. We understand that occasionally these areas are subjective. We encourage you to nominate if you think you have a good case for a nominee to be on the list, but we cannot make guarantees about the outcome.

When will I hear back about if I was chosen? Honorees are notified approximately 5 weeks prior to the special section publication date. Once judging is complete, we will reach out to candidates that were chosen. This notification will be an email from Crain’s Notable Team.

The information is confidential, should I submit it? All information submitted in the nomination form is subject to publication. If the information is confidential, don't submit it. If we need further clarification, we will reach out.

May I submit more than one nomination from my company? Is there a limit? We recommend that you limit your nominations to 3 per company. Only one nomination is necessary per nominee. Multiple nominations do not increase the nominee's chances of being recognized.

What are the headshot requirements? Below are examples of appropriate headshots in terms of scale and size of subject; please ensure there's sufficient headroom for a circle crop.

  • Clear wide-shot headshot
  • Hi-resolution (300 dpi)
